Gunmen Attack Emir Of Kaura Namoda, Kill 3 Policemen, 2 Palace Guards

Yet-to-be identified gunmen Thursday night reportedly attacked the convoy of Emir of Kaura Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Asha, killing eight persons including three policemen, palace guards and his driver.

The emir, a retired army general who was on his way to his home in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, escaped unhurt in the attack which took place along Zaria-Funtua road.

“The Emir was in his official vehicle with a Toyota Hilux forming part of the convoy,” a palace source said in a report in HumAngle.

“He didn’t sustain any injury but we lost eight occupants of the Toyota Hilux including the driver, two palace guards, three police escorts and two traditional title holders, they were all killed by the gunmen.”

It was gathered that the bodies of the deceased were evacuated from the scene of the attack.

The emir is a retired army general before he ascended the throne this year after the demise of his father late Muhammad A’sha.

As of the time of compiling this report, there was no official statement from the palace and the police in Zamfara State.

This happened almost eight days after gunmen abducted over 500 students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara State, Katsina State, and less than 24 hours after the schoolboys were released.
