Anti-cult Volunteers Corps Commander in Delta state, Austyne Emu has been reportedly shot dead.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports Emu was killed on Saturday night by unknown gunmen during a visit to Kwale.

Multiple sources confirmed his death on Sunday saying he was killed after attending a unity football cup competition at Umusagede in Kwale.

Many condolences message have flooded his Facebook page where he usual post statement about his group’s efforts at taming cultism in the state.

Emu, recent encounter was at security meeting at Ughelli North Council, heavily under siege of cultists who had engaged in a week-long gang war between Aiye and Bagger groups.

Details of his death was still sketchy as of press time but the death was confirmed by Comrade Umukoro Efemena, a member of the State Community Policing Committee on his verified Facebook page.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya could not be reach for comment but police source says the state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa had confirmed the incident earlier.
