An investigative report by CNN has exposed claims by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Nigerian Army concerning the Lekki shooting of unarmed civilians during #EndSARS protest.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports the investigative report by the popular international television station, indicated that soldiers used live ammunition on innocent protesters during the Lekki Shooting in Lagos against claims by the Nigerian Army that blank bullet were deployed.

The graphic detailed report which contains gory images of death and injury, (here), has countered statements by the Nigerian army that they fired blank ammunition which can neither kill or hurt a human skin.

Brig.-Gen. Ahmed Taiwo, Commander of the 81 Division, Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, who testified on behalf of the Nigerian Army before the Lagos judicial panel on Saturday November 14, stressed that soldiers fired blank ammunition into the air to disperse protesters on the night of the alleged shooting.

Taiwo stated that there would have been a lot of fatalities if the 600m live ammunition normally used by the military were used to disperse the #EndSARS protesters.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports that Brig. Gen. Taiwo’s remarks came amid mounting global outrage and intense criticism from Amnesty International and other notable voices over the military role in the shooting of #EndSARS protesters in Lekki.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had reportedly earlier claimed that he knew nothing about troop deployment in Lekki Tollgate where soldiers were accused of shooting protesters for allegedly flouting the curfew imposed on the state to curb the social unrest unleashed by hoodlums who had seized the #EndSARS protest.

Nigerian disc jockey DJ Switch, a witness who was present at the shooting, said that armed soldiers and police officers shot at her and other peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday night.

She said at least 15 people were killed in the shootings and that she and other survivors took the victims’ bodies to the soldiers who took them away.

Reacting to the CNN’s report, DJ Switch took to her Twitter page calling on Governor of Lagos state, Sanwo-Olu to reveal who gave the order to shoot protesters.

“Hello @jidesanwoolu have you seen the CNN report yet? So, who gave the order to shoot at peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate on 20-10-2020 ?

“The Truth will always come to light. Thank you, CNN.”
