Nigeria Records Highest Single-day Spike In COVID-19 – 553 New Cases, Tally Near 10,000

Nigeria on Saturday recorded the highest spike in coronavirus infection in a single day testing for COVID-19, the country’s Centre for Disease Control says.
This is coming as the Federal Government says it is thinking of sectionalising classes for primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the country ahead of school reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic.
BIGPEN reports the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), says the country has recorded 553 new cases, up from 387 the day before. This marked the biggest record of the virus since the outbreak in the country.
Also, NCDC says the country recorded 12 deaths against two recorded a day before, another rise in the number of fatalities which had brought the deaths toll to 273 against 261 as of Friday night.
Lagos, the epicenter of the virus took the largest record of the those who tested positive on Saturday with 378 cases, followed by the FCT with 52 cases and Delta with 23, Edo with 22, Rivers 14 cases respectively.
Other states are; Ogun (13), Kaduna (12), Kano (9), Borno (7), Katsina (6), Jigawa (5), Oyo (5), Yobe (3), Plateau (3), Osun (1).
Till date, 9855 cases have been confirmed, 2856 cases have been discharged and 273 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory, NCDC maintained.
