Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District have announced the formation of a Leadership Council in a strategic move to strengthen internal cohesion and enhance grassroots mobilization in the party.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the APC Delta North Senatorial District meeting held on June 14, 2025, in Idumuje-Ugboko.

In the communique, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko will serve as the head of the council, with Delta North Senatorial Chairman, Chief Adizue Eluaka, as co-chair.

Reading the communique on behalf of the stakeholders, Rt. Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai emphasized the importance of inclusivity and strategic coordination across the district.

He said the Leadership Council is designed to strengthen the party’s organizational structure and foster unity across the nine local government areas of Delta North.

Each LGA, according to the communique, will contribute 10 members to the council. Automatic membership will be granted to all former and serving members of the National Assembly from the zone, former Speakers of the Delta State House of Assembly, current members of the APC’s State and National Working Committees, and all LGA party chairmen.

This initiative is in line with Articles 12 and 13 of the APC Constitution and underscores the party’s commitment to building effective leadership at the grassroots.

In a unanimous decision, the meeting adopted a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ned Nwoko.

This show of solidarity reflects the alignment of Delta North APC members with the broader vision of national and state leadership.

Speaking at the event, Senator Nwoko declared that the creation of Anioma State is a “done deal.”

He explained that all necessary steps have been taken and revealed that seventy-five senators have declared their support for the initiative.

According to him, the proposal has moved beyond the committee stage and is set for a public hearing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on July 4 and 5, after which it will proceed to a third reading in the Senate.

He also announced that a technical committee would be inaugurated on June 15 to accelerate efforts toward Anioma State creation.

Additionally, he pledged to visit all local government areas in Delta North in July to brief constituents on the progress made at the Senate.

Senator Nwoko praised both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, commending their leadership and performance, stating, “Tinubu has done so much. Our governor is also doing well. We will support them.”

Rt. Hon. Ngozi Okolie, member representing Aniocha/Oshimili at the House of Representatives, emphasized the need for collaboration and unity, expressing hope that all stakeholders would work together for the betterment of the state and the country.

APC stalwart Chief Emma Ejiofor urged grassroots participation in the party’s membership registration and voiced strong support for Anioma State creation. He encouraged all members to join the movement.

Chamberlain Dunkwu from Ika echoed this sentiment, expressing unwavering support for Senator Nwoko. “On Senator Nwoko’s mandate the people of Anioma shall stand. Ika people are one family. We are united behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Ned Nwoko,” he declared.
