Detained Delta Journalists Released, To Appear For Further Interrogation Today

The five journalists arrested by the Inspector General of Police Squad in Warri, Delta State, have been released and asked to report back today, Wednesday for further interrogation.

The reason for the arrest and subsequent detention of the journalists remains sketchy as of press time.

Sources disclosed that the journalists who were released around 10:59pm were asked to return Wednesday by 10:am for further questioning.

State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Michael Ikeogwu who confirmed their release, said that the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa ordered their release.

The chairman of the Warri Correspondents Chapel of the NUJ, Comrade Okies Veeky, said they were released after the detective had obtained statement from them.
