The Deputy President of the senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, “is always unique in his approach to care for his constituents”, leadership of Delta Central APC said on Saturday.

This was contained in a commendation statement to the senator for his ongoing palliatives to the elderly, the vulnerable and the physically-challenged persons in the eight Local governments areas of Urhobo land.

Signed by the Delta Central APC chairman, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Ejiroghene Bodjor, the statement said the Omo-Agege’s gesture is a huge relief for the people at this critical time of COVID-19 lockdown.

Olorogun Bodjor thanked the Deputy President of the Senate for the gesture, adding that the lawmaker has continued to demonstrate a unique style of representation that is people-oriented and novel in Urhobo land.

“You see, the Senator is always unique in his approach to care for his constituents. Reaching out to the elderly in the society is a way of assisting to relieve those who have the elderly as parents as well as giving hope to the old men and women that they have not been neglected.

“This Obarisi’s palliative is also unique in the sense that it addresses the need of the people in that age bracket more appropriately than the so-called one cup of rice per person palliative which the government of the state is distributing to the people.”

According to him, at such times like the one the country is going through at the moment those who are healthy and strong are finding it difficult to cater for themselves, let alone the weak and the elderly.

“Obarisi realize that every Urhobo person is his constituent and so, he ordered that the palliative must go round without party consideration. The party is proud of the Deputy President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who has not disappointed us.

“We call upon well-to-do Urhobo to emulate the Senator and come to the aid of our people at this time. It is our prayer that God will continue to strengthen him and give him more wisdom as he carries out the duty for which he was elected by the people,” he said.

It would be recalled that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who represents the Delta Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, commenced the disbursement of cash to the elderly and vulnerable in the area. He set aside N85 million for the project which is to be distributed at N1 million per ward at the rate of N5,000 per person.
