Nigeria’s police has refunded the N120,000 extorted from one Mrs Nwabuabo Obiajulu after she sent her son with their family car to buy fuel during COVID-19 Lockdown in Delta State.

The refund was made few hours after BIGPEN published the story about the alleged extortion by a team of policemen led by one Inspector Okosun attached to Asagba Police Station, Ogwashi-Uku, near Asaba, the state capital.

Mrs Obiajulu said that the money was refunded to her by the said Inspector Okosun who approached her at about 5:00p.m around Post Office area of Ogwashi-Uku and “threw” the money at her.

She said that the policemen warned her not to honour any invitation before they zoomed off.

“Those people (Inspector Okosun and his team) just drove to my place around Post Office and threw the money at me and said if anybody called me to anywhere, I should not go,” she said.

When contacted earlier about the incident, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Muhammed Inuwa, had, on Sunday, vowed to deal decisively with officers who were bringing the name of his Command to disrepute. It was not clear what transpired before the refund was made but this medium had on Sunday night tagged the story to the Nigeria Police twitter handle and the police complaint handle, also on the mini-website.
