BREAKING: Supreme Court Adjourns Review Of Zamfara, Imo Judgment To March 2

Published

on

The Supreme Court has adjourned till March 2 this year in the motion by the Abdul’aziz Yari faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State for a review of the court’s May 24, 2019 judgment, voiding the participation of candidates of the APC in the last elections in the state.

The apex court had also earlier postponed hearing on the application by sacked Imo Governor, Emeka Ihedioha and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) till March 2.

Declaring the court position at the mention of the case on Tuesday, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), who led a five-man panel of the court, said it was impossible for the court to proceed to hearing because some of the parties have not been served.

Lawyer to the Yari faction, Robert Clarke (SAN), lawyer to the Senator Gabiru Marafa faction of the APC in Zamfara, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and lawyer to INEC, Tanimu Inuwa (SAN) agreed that an adjournment was necessary.

The court subsequently adjourned till March 2, 2020 for hearing.

The apex court had earlier in a brief ruling, granted the request for adjournment by Ihedioha’s lead lawyer, Kanu Agabi who sought for time to enable the parties file the necessary papers, a request other lawyers in the case did not object to.
