Robbers Cart Away Two Police AK-47 Rifles In Asaba After Attack On Patrol Van

Daredevils armed robbers on Monday carted away two police AK-47 rifles after a major ambush on police patrol vehicle of five (5) policemen attached to “C” Division under the Delta state police command, Asaba, BigPen Online can report.

Sources revealed that the hoodlums who waylaid the police team around 8:15 am were armed with machetes. They were Four (4) in number.

Our source disclosed that two of the policemen were severely brutalised by the hoodlums while the rest three (3) escaped during the attack leaving behind their AK-47 rifles.

The hoodlums made away with two (2) of the AK-47 rifles that was abandoned by the fleeing policemen.

It was however learnt that one of the policeman that was attacked later died in the hospital as a result of excess blood lost.

Meanwhile when contacted, the Delta state Police Commissioner, CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the incident, disclosing that some suspects in connection to the incidents have been arrested and investigations had commenced.

BigPen Online investigations revealed that this latest attack would bring the number of cases of armed hoodlums attack on police patrol team to three (3) within the space of two (2) months in Asaba, the state capital.

Two AK 47 rifles were reportedly taken away in a similar attack at Isse-Asagba, two months ago.

Another attack on a patrol vehicle by hoodlums was experienced at filing station at Ibusa within Asaba capital territory.
