Simeon Okah: PFN ‘ll Stage Massive Protest If Buhari Doesn’t Stop Herdsmen Killings Within One Month

Vice President (South-South) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Simeon Okah, has hinted of impending nationwide protest if President Muhammadu Buhari fails to arrest the menace of Fulani’s herdsmen in the country within one month.

Okah, told newsmen at a press conference in Warri, Delta State on Thursday that PFN is seriously worried that Buhari as a former Head of State has failed to tackle the unwarranted killings by herdsmen, particularly in the Middle-Belt.

He lamented that the killings, particularly targeted on Christians in the Northern part of the country should by now have been curtailed by Buhari adjudge as fierce former military General, expressing worried that instead of arresting the situation the Buhari administration have continued to remain adamant about it.

Okah, however cautioned that if in the next one month, Buhari didn’t stop the arms wielding herdsmen from killing people, particularly Christians in the North, PFN shall organise a massive protest that would hold the country to a standstill.

According to him, the protest which would be so massive that international media would be fully mobilised to cover the menace of herdsmen killings would cripple the government until the Buhari’s administration fish out the perpetuators and sponsors of the killings in the north.

Okah who is the presiding bishop of Flock of Christ Mission in Warri, said that the situation called for the immediate resignation or sack of all serving chiefs in the country including Director General, DSS; Inspector General of Police and other sister agencies for failing to nip the killings in the bud.

He said that most Pentecostal churches had boycotted last Sunday protest organized by the Christians Association of Nigeria to protest the killings because PFN had wanted a situation where CAN speak with the federal government on why the killings had remained unabated before issuing the directives.

He said, “We (PFN) decided that we will not be involved on that protest because some connections have been made through which we could have passed our grievances and things we know that could build this nation to the top authorities. Some of us feel that it could be wrong if those who can listen and take what we say, in one month this nation will change drastically.

“Based on that, we felt the protest should be carried forward and let’s communicate with the power that be in this nation. This country can be built within five years that those who left when they returned, they won’t know it. This nation has money and resources. You know CAN has five blocks. The other blocks do not see it the way we saw it and that was why we were not involved.

“If it pleases God, some of the things I am going to say now, some other persons are still going to speak. If we have done that and within a month if these key things are not addressed or we do not see any change in one-month time at most, then there is going to be real protest. We shall hold this nation to a standstill.”

While commending President Donald Trump of the US for advising President Buhari to tackle the killing of Christians, Bishop Okah alleged that what the killer herdsmen and their sponsors are after in the northern part of the country is to kill anyone who mention the name of Jesus.

“Firstly, I want to appreciate President Trump. Trump is trying but he has not understood certain things about the world. What I will still want Trump to understand is that not only Christians are killed, in the Middle-Belt (North- Central) for now, the killers and their sponsors want to see how anyone who mention the name of Jesus is cleared (killed).

“Anybody who doubt what I am saying by the grace of God, I can give proof. While we feel so concerned is that the people in Middle-Belt are not animals or chickens that they should be murdered. The issue is not just that they are Christians, but they are human beings. We expected that President Buhari will take action because these people who are being slaughtered all voted for him in 2015.

“Trump tried, but he still need to call President Buhari. Apart from Middle-Belt, there’s killing all round this country. Before President Buhari came on board, there were kidnapping, Boko Haram and armed robbery quite alright but you will agree with me that in the last three years, all these things have increased. The number of persons killed in this three years by Boko Haram is more than the numbers Boko Haram has killed before he came in.

“Those who are calling for the sack of the military chiefs to be sacked have reasons. The security chiefs can’t deny they don’t know where these herdsmen are getting their arms. If they are not willing to do this job, they should resign. All the security heads including the DSS, Police and security chiefs should resign. They know where arms are pilled. What happened to Turkey is what they want to turn this nation to”, the PFN leader added.
