The President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe has agreed to step down as the President. This is the first time the 93 year old ruler will relinquish power after being the President of Zimbabwe for almost four decades.

It was gathered that the ruling ZANU-PF  had earlier ousted Mugabe as Party leader and further warned that if he does not resign as Country’s president, they would start impeachment proceedings against him tomorrow.

President Mugabe will address the nation live from the State House tonight, according to an announcement on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Channel.

His former Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa is poised to be Zimbabwe’s next leader after the central committee made him its nominee in the event that Mugabe goes.

It would be recalled that earlier today, Mnangagwa was made ZANU-PF’s leader after Mugabe was sacked from that position.
