The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three police officers and a driver attached to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in connection with the alleged burgling of the senator’s residence in Asaba, the state capital.

DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the police spokesman while confirming the report said the police are investigating the matter to ascertain how the gunmen gained access into the house unchallenged.

BigPen Online recalls that some disgruntled elements alleged to be constituents of the senator who claimed they were used and dumped by the senator had on Monday burgled his residence in Asaba and carted away his dollars and jewelries belonging to his wife worth millions of naira.

The bandits also stole laptops and other expensive clothes and items belonging to the wife of the senator in an operation which lasted an hour, the Guardian had reported.

Report says after the incident the police and other security personnel on guard at the senator’s house along Olarewanju Close, near Interbua, Asaba, were nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, attempts by suspected loyalists of the Senator, representing Delta North Senatorial District, to whisked away the online journalist, Austin Oyibode who first reported the incident was foiled on Wednesday during the formal inauguration of the executive committee of the Delta Online Publishers Forum, (DOPF).

BigPen Online gathered that the invasion of the premises by the mobs followed an order by Nwaoboshi to the Chairman of the Oshimili North Local Government of the state, Louis Ndukwe to produce the journalist, barely few hours after Senate President, Olusola Saraki called Senator Nwaoboshi over the report.

An embarrassed Nwaoboshi, it was learnt immediately put a call across to Ndukwe to produce the journalist who was reportedly at the Chad-ef Hotel, Asaba, venue of the inauguration of DOPF.

It was gathered that some constituent and loyalists of the senator stormed the venue with some suspected thugs in an official black Toyota Corolla with registration number, AKU-13 LG belonging to the Council Chairman who drove in an unmarked black official Camry, 2017 modern.

However, attempts by the invaders to whisked away the journalist after storming the hall where the inauguration was taking place was foiled by the intervention of other journalists and some human rights lawyers in the event.

Irked by the development, moderator of the event and human rights lawyer, Maxwell Omens Ogedegbe and Malachy Ugwummadu, a human rights lawyer and President, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, (CDHR) and keynote speaker at the event, condemned in strong terms the invasion and attempt by Nwaoboshi’s loyalists to abduct the journalist over an incident which had been confirmed by the police earlier.
