Delta chairmanship aspirants under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are to pay N1million for the nomination form while the councillorship aspirants will pay N200, 000.

Nomination forms will be free for all female aspirants.

This was contained in a time-table and schedule of activities of the party released for the conduct of the local government election scheduled for 6 January, 2018 by the Delta state independent electoral commission DSIEC.

The state party chairman, Kingsley Esiso, at a press conference on Friday said as ways to encourage women to participate in the local government election, nomination forms will be free for all female aspirants.

Though some persons argued that the N1million for nomination from was on the high side, considering the economy of the nation and that it might propel the chairmen to be corrupt after winning the election, the chairman said it was the decision of the party, adding that the money is for aspirants who are interested and not for members of the public or civil servants.

Kingsley Esiso also said his party has appealed to all local government PDP chairmen to provide opportunity for a minimum of three female councilors in all the local areas in the state.
