Disturbing video obtained by BIGPENNGR.COM shows the moment youths suspected to be from warring Igbide, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, set several homes on fire in a renewed hostility with neighbouring Emede community.

The video clip which was reportedly shot by one of the arsonist who was heard shouting “We’re in Emede live”, “Make una come outside”, “Emede is crazy”, “Burn that house”, “set it ablaze, amongst other boastful talks, surfaced online over the weekend after the communal crisis rocking the communities took a dangerous dimension.

The youths who were seen in the video shooting sporadically, set several residential houses, and shops worth millions of naira ablaze after residents had fled for their dear lives.

One of the youths identified himself in the video as Clinton and it appears he was the one who made the amateur video of their own ‘burning spree‘ in Emede, an oil producing community like Igbide.

The video indicates that Emede has become a ghost town as the arsonists had a field day as they torched the houses and looted several homes.

It was not clear what the motive of the arsonists were but a source said that they have been boastful that they will “teach Emede a bitter lesson” in what appears as if they were waging a “battle of supremacy” over their neighbour.

The two Isoko communities have been on each other jugular over aged-long land dispute which caused them war between 1986 and 1987.

Circumstances surrounding the renewed hostility have been sketchy but accusing fingers are reportedly pointed to the President General of Igbide who is said to be fueling the renewed crisis to perpetrate himself in power.

The President General of Igbide who is currently at large, has since been declared wanted and stripped of his powers by Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Itiako Constantine Ikpokpo, who also imposed 24-hours indefinite curfew on the two communities, beginning from 6:pm Friday, 11th December, 2020.

All effort to reach the state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa for comment on the brewing crisis, proved abortive as his phone number signaled busy for the many times it was called but a police source who confirmed the arrest said that mobile policemen and soldiers have since been drafted to the troubled areas.
