2027: Nwokocha Inaugurates Association of Igbo Democrats Delta Chapter, Endorses Peter Obi

Human rights activist, Comrade Emeka Nwokocha, has inaugurated the Delta State chapter of the Association of Igbo Democrats (AIDEM) with a declaration to endorse Peter Obi for president in 2027.

Nwokocha, who is the National Coordinator of AIDEM, inaugurated the Delta chapter in Warri as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing journalists after the inauguration, Nwokocha said AIDEM was formed to address the concerns of Nigerians seeking to rescue the country from its current political trajectory.

He said true democracy empowers citizens to choose their leaders through fair contests, lamenting that political actors now discard democratic principles for fraudulent schemes.

“The decay of Nigeria’s democratic process has reached a worrying level, making the creation of AIDEM crucial for restoring integrity and political stability,” he said.

Nwokocha charged the Igbo population in Delta State to reject voter manipulation and financial inducement, which he said have become commonplace during elections.

“Speaking as a bonafide Nigerian who believes in our nation’s democratic future, I urge all citizens to guard their independence. Do not allow yourselves to be coerced into supporting politicians who lack genuine concern for the poor,” he stated.

Asked if AIDEM would endorse candidates or parties in 2027, Nwokocha said the group would align only with credible political figures, confirming that Peter Obi will receive AIDEM’s endorsement for the presidency.

He urged Ndigbo in Delta State and nationwide to vote for Obi and other trustworthy candidates regardless of party affiliation.

Nwokocha added that AIDEM has launched an awareness campaign across Delta State, urging the Igbo community to leverage their population and unity to influence the outcome of the 2027 elections.
