Lagos Party Guest Found Dead in River After Alleged Robbery in Ikorodu

A man identified simply as Tosin has been found dead in a river in Ikorodu, Lagos State, days after he reportedly went missing while attending an event in the Egbin area of Ijede.

Tosin, who reportedly travelled from Ondo State to attend the event, was allegedly attacked by suspected cultists after stepping out of the venue on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

A police source told journalists that the victim was allegedly dispossessed of his gold chains, mobile phones and other valuables before he was killed.

The source said the assailants subsequently dumped his body in a river.

“His body was discovered in a river in Agura on Thursday. It was later deposited in the morgue,” the source said.

Following the discovery, police operatives reportedly raided the area on Friday and arrested some suspects in connection with the incident.

“The arrested suspects were taken into custody for questioning. The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tosin’s death and the identities of those behind the alleged killing,” another police source said.

The source added that the police were making efforts to arrest other suspects who may have been involved in the incident.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development.

Adebisi said the case was initially reported as a missing-person incident on September 15 and was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

She said a corpse identified as Tosin was found floating in a river on September 18.

“The case is being investigated at the SCID,” she added.
