Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over a dispute from the APC Surulere Constituency I primary. In a viral video, Elliot knelt and apologised to Tinubu’s CoS, over the Surulere APC primary lost.

In a video circulating on social media, Elliot was seen kneeling before Gbajabiamila as he pleaded for forgiveness and sought to reconcile with the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse, I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry,” Elliot said, expressing hope that he would be accepted back into the fold.

The development comes months after a dispute between Elliot and some APC leaders over the party’s primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat.

Elliot had participated in the primary but later withdrew from the exercise, citing alleged intimidation and political pressure against his supporters.

He subsequently rejected the outcome and indicated that he would challenge the process through the party’s internal appeal mechanism.

The primary was eventually won by Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who polled 11,385 votes, while Elliot secured 270 votes.

Odunuga-Bakare later emerged as the APC candidate for the Surulere Constituency I seat.

Elliot’s latest gesture appears to signal an attempt to mend fences with Gbajabiamila and rebuild his relationship with the APC leadership in Lagos.

Elliot has represented Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly and is a former member of the Lagos State chapter of the APC.
