‎The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have regained their freedom.

‎In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the Command had not recorded any such development and urged members of the public to disregard the viral messages.

‎According to the statement, rescue efforts remain active and intensive, with security operatives deploying all available resources to secure the safe release of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

‎”The claim is false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated. As of the time of this release, there has been no such development,” he said.

‎The Command reassured residents of Oyo State and the families of the abducted victims that coordinated security operations are ongoing and focused on ensuring the victims are rescued unharmed and reunited with their loved ones.

‎The police also expressed concern over the spread of unverified information, warning that the dissemination of false reports could create unnecessary panic, undermine ongoing security operations, and threaten public peace and order.

‎Residents were advised to rely only on information released through official channels of the Nigeria Police Force and other authorized government agencies.

‎While appealing for calm and cooperation, the Command encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies by refraining from sharing unverified information on social media platforms.

‎The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to securing the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers and promised to provide timely updates as investigations and rescue efforts progress.
