Ndudi Elumelu

The Media Office of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has condemned malicious smear campaign by some desperate politicians against him.

In a statement on Tuesday, the office said that some individuals are jittery over Elumelu’s soaring popularity and have resorted to faking news sites and planting misrepresentations.

The reaction followed what they described as a fake Facebook post which claimed that Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu made comments on some political parties at a rally in Asaba, Delta State capital, on August 9, 2025.

However, Elumelu’s office clarifies that he did not attend any such rally, and the post is a fabrication.

The office’s investigation reveals that some cowardly political elements have recruited individuals to spread falsehoods and fabrications against Elumelu. Despite forgiving those behind this mischief, the office warns that it will take strong legal and professional actions if such individuals do not desist.

This is not the first time Elumelu’s office has had to debunk false reports.

Media Office Alerts of Plots to Smear Rt.Hon Elumelu, Cautions Perpetrators

The Media Office of the Immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu OON alerts of plots by certain desperate politicians to engage in very malicious media smear campaign against Rt. Hon. Elumelu. Them being jittery over soaring popularity of the humble and resilient frontline political leader.

Part of the smear campaign came in a recent malicious misrepresentation in the social media wherein some mischievous elements faked the facebook page of a news portal (Dailyreport.ng) and used same to falsely claim that Hon. Elumelu made a recent comment on some political parties.

The fake news item feigned to be posted on August 14, 2025 claimed that the Immediate past Minority Leader spoke at a political rally in Asaba, Delta State Capital on the previous Saturday, (August 9, 2025).

Ordinarily, this office would not have bothered about such cheap mischief but given the duty to protect the public space from the evil machination of these individuals who are bent on misleading the public with lies, misrepresentation and falsehood, we are obliged to respond.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Immediate past Minority Leader had not attended any political rally in the recent time and there was no political rally in Asaba, Delta State capital on the said Saturday, August 9, 2025 which has the Immediate past Minority Leader in attendance let alone making comments as claimed by the post.

Our investigation revealed that the individual that made the mischievous post was recruited and sponsored by some cowardly political elements who being overtly jittery over the soaring popularity of the Immediate past Minority Leader have now resorted to criminal tendencies of faking news sites to plant misrepresentations and fabrications against him.

Further investigations reveal vicious plots by these desperate politicians to engage in smear campaigns by sponsoring hack writers to post malicious publications against the Immediate past Minority Leader.

This Office however cautions such individuals to note that Nigerians can see through their machinations and that they cannot sway the public with their cheap lies and misrepresentation.

While the Immediate past Minority Leader has forgiven those behind this mischief, this Office will however not hesitate to take very strong legal and professional actions should such individuals fail to retrace their steps.
