The chairman of Isoko South Local Government of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri, has formally launched the distribution of 17,000 exercise books to 48 primary schools across the local government area.

Inaugurating the scheme on Tuesday at Okpolo Enhwe primary school open field in Isoko South, Warri stated that it is a measure to promote the policy of Warri for your worries campaign promises and the M.O.R.E agenda of governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The council boss commended the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for his significant achievements in promoting quality education policy in the state even as he expressed his love and passion for investing in the lives of young people, saying he firmly believes they are the leaders of tomorrow.

“Education plays a critical role in the fortunes of every nation, hence we must invest in the education sector to enhance development. For us who completed our education in Nigeria and public schools, we have come to encourage you to take your learning seriously. Today, we are no longer campaigning, we are here to address some of the educational concerns of our learners in Isoko South, expect M.O.R.E from our administration.

“The notebooks, although small, will go a long way in reducing the burden on your parents and guardians. And I want to caution the headmasters and mistresses to ensure all learners have access to the notebooks. Let the learners have access to these books; do not sell or keep them in your houses. As a former pupil of Okpolo Enhwe Primary School, I shall pick up the immediate rehabilitation of the Okpolo Enhwe HM quarters, which will incentivise the HM to remain on the school premises instead of commuting from Ughelli to Enhwe every working day.”, Warri promised.

On his part, the Isoko South Local Government Authority Secretary, Pius Emamowho, characterized the gesture as a positive turnaround in the development of education, noting that the notebooks and the promise of rehabilitation of Okpolo Enhwe HM quarters were encouraging, adding that the notebooks would not only alleviate the financial burdens on parents and guardians but also enhance the learners’ learning processes.

The highlight of the event was when Conference Afedhae, head of the HMs in Isoko South, received the seventeen thousand notebooks for learners across Isoko South and expressed gratitude to the council chairman for his kindness towards the learners and prayed that God would reward his efforts.
