Aladja Grammar School: Gov Oborevwori, Waive To Grace Alma Mater’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

The Old Students Association of Aladja Grammar School in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary on September 27th, with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and member representing Ughelli North,South and Udu Constituency, Hon. Francis Waive, both notable alumni, expected to attend.

According to the association’s president, Mr. Andrew Okrakene, the Golden Jubilee celebration will reflect on the school’s academic excellence, character building, and community engagement over the past five decades.

“Aladja Grammar School has produced graduates who have excelled in various fields, including medicine, engineering, law, arts, and public service.

“We’re proud of our achievements and look forward to continuing to shape the future of our society”, Okrakene said at the press briefing at the NUJ Warri Correspondent Chapel to herald the golden jubilee anniversary celebration.

“We are proud of our long history of academic achievements including -Producing graduates who have gone out to excel in various fields such as medicine, engineering, law, arts, and public service, Okrakene added.

“Achieving top rankings in national and international academic competitions -Being a model school in terms of character development, extracurricular activities, and sports”

“We are using this Golden Jubilee as an opportunity to give back to our “Alma Mater” Okrakene said.

Okrakene also emphasize that the motto of “our dear esteemed institution which is “LABOR OMNIA VINCIT”- WORK CONQUERS ALL, has guide generations of students to excellence in various fields of endeavour.

The celebration will feature a grand reunion gala, lecture series, and the launch of a commemorative publication documenting the school’s history and success stories. Awards will also be presented to outstanding alumni.

Also speaking, chairman of the organizing committee, Hon. Chief Dr Henry Sakpra, said that efforts is on to raise funds for critical projects, including the fencing of the school premises.

On the “Milestones and Achievements”, Sakpra said that over the last five decades, Aladja Grammar School has grows from the humble beginning in 1974 to become a leading institution in Udu Local Government Area for being the first Secondary School.

Sakpra also reiterated that,the special guest of honor of the day are, RT. Hon. (elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State. RT. Hon. Francis Waive. Honorable member representing Ughelli North,South and Udu Constituency.

“I’m proud to tell you that RT. Hon. (elder) Sheriff Oborevwori and RT. Hon. Francis Waive are products of our dear esteemed institution”.

He said that the event which would hold on September 27th at the school playground by 10:00 am would featured lecture series from distinguished speakers including, Prof. G.G. Darah, Prof. Jomata Igben, Prof. Godfrey Akpojotor and Mr. Egedegbe Edewor who are also products of the school.

Okrakene said that Governor Oborevwori and RT. Hon. Waive’s presence is expected to inspire current students and highlight the school’s impact on Delta State’s development.

“Awards will be given to some old Students who have projected the name of the School on their various endeavors.

“While we celebrate our rich history, this 50th anniversary also serves as a platform to look ahead. Our vision for the future is clear to remain at the forefront of educational excellence and to continue developing well-rounded socially responsible individuals who will shape the future of our society”, he said.

Other personality who where on board are, Mrs Caroline Magege Odogu, Vice president. Bukata Victoria T. The first Head Girl of the College, Comrade Henry Obus, member of the planning committee. Austin Maduku, Dean of college of H.P.M Delta State. Mrs Mabel A. Ewroh.
