Smooth, a man of few words, told Ofehe during a consultative meeting, Sunday night, “you have my words, my word is my bond. I am fully in support of your candidacy”, he said through a kinsman who interpreted his Ijoh language.

Speaking, Ofehe said that he decided to visit the Ijaw music icon because he knows the role he played in the Niger Delta struggle and his worth within Ijaw communities.
He said that Ijaw nation particularly the coastal communities are highly neglected and deprived today because of poor leadership offered by the PDP administration, maintaining that those still rooting for PDP and APC are the real enemies of deprived people of the state.
“My leader it is time for us not to vote because we’re APC or PDP but it time for us to look at our resources, look at our state and future of children who doesn’t know the cause of our problems and ask yourself why are we still where we are”.
He urged the people to shame both the PDP and APC, the two major political parties that brandished candidates that have so impoverished the people come Saturday by voting overwhelmingly for YPP.
Ofehe, a Nigerian-born environmental rights activist, has been a foremost crusader of the Ijaw struggle at various stages at the international community global.
He was the first Nigerian to produce a documentary film on the arm struggle by Niger Delta militants when he led some foreign journalists to visit the camp of the defunct dreaded Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) making him the first to release photographs and videos of the former militants during the dark days of Niger Delta arm struggle to the press which culminated with the amnesty program.
While soliciting the support of Smooth and other Ijaw leaders present, Ofehe painted the picture of how he had used his activism to advanced the Ijaw nay Niger Delta region struggle saying that he had been kidnapped, arrested illegally and throw into prison in the course of fighting for Ijaw nation.
