Residents of Ginuwa community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have said that the N1.5 million billed to fix their faulty transformer was donated by an individual.

Three members of the Electricity Committee in the community, Mohammed Mahmed, Innocent Umukoro and Uche Nwandu, who spoke on behalf of the residents, said the total of N1.5m to fix the faulty transformer was donated by Mr Oris Sotu, a resident.

Mr Sotu, popularly called MCC, in a statement made available to journalists, corroborated the claim of footing the bill.

Mr Sotu, a business mogul, whose magnificent house is located by Ginuwa road, Off Omenta, Warri, said no staff of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) was involved in the repair process.

“I write to appeal to BEDC management to kindly take charge and foot the cost of the faulty transformer for my community.

“This repair footing will not, in anyway, stop my people from paying their normal electricity bills.
