Fuel crisis is looming in Delta State as some disgruntled members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Warri depot has threatened to cripple activities of Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) over botch election of the association which was reportedly cancelled by Delta State Government.

BigPen Online recalls that the state government had announced the postponement of the election on Friday following alleged security report that some elements wanted to hijack the exercise and create violence in the state.

Earlier in a protest over the development in Asaba, the state capital, spokesman of the association, Mr Yesuff Adams said that several members of the association were angry over the state government cancelation of the proposed elections.

According to him, members of Delta State IPMAN had maintained that election must hold on monday 4th December 2017, otherwise all IPMAN filling stations in Delta State will be shutdown.

He stated that members of Delta State IPMAN will no longer regard the leadership of Chief Benjamin Emoefe, popularly known as Ben Jones as from monday 4th December 2017 as his tenure has expired.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP. Zanna M. Ibrahim, has called on marketers and all persons aggrieved over the postponement of IPMAN Warri depot election not to take the laws into their own hands.

The CP gave this warning, Sunday, December 3, 2017, following intelligence report that certain persons have threatened to shut down operations at PPMC Warri on Monday over the failure to conduct election on the 1st December, 2017, and to drive home their demand for a date to be fixed for the election.

While noting that the postponement has become necessary in view of the fact that one of the factions to the election did not partake in the screening exercise, he calls on all the parties to exercise restraint, more so, since there is a pending suit at the Federal High Court, Warri, filed by one of the factions to the election.

Ibrahim reiterated his call for restraint and peace as security agencies will deal decisively with any person or group of persons who cause damage to any critical infrastructure or breach of public peace, State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said in a statement.
