DOPF 2026 Conference: Prof Dode Oghenedoro to Speak on Democracy Under Pressure in Asaba

Renowned political scientist and public policy expert, Professor Robert Oghenedoro Dode, has been confirmed as Guest Lecturer for the 2026 Annual Conference and 6th Lecture Series of the Delta Online Publishers Forum, DOPF.

The conference is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at David’s Event Centre, GRA, Asaba, Delta State.

Prof. Dode will deliver the keynote lecture on the theme, “Democracy Under Pressure: Electoral Integrity, Security Challenges and Media Accountability in Nigeria.”

According to DOPF, the choice of Prof. Dode is based on his extensive academic experience and expertise in governance, electoral politics, public administration, security and strategic affairs.

His lecture is expected to provide a rigorous examination of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, the imperative of credible and transparent elections, emerging security concerns and the critical role of the media in promoting accountability and good governance.

Professor Dode is a Professor of Political Science at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, where he once served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics. He hails from Otorho-Idjerhe in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

He obtained his B.Sc. in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Uyo, graduating as Best Student in his discipline, and later earned an M.Sc. in Public Administration from the same university and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Port Harcourt.

With over two decades of academic and administrative experience, Prof. Dode has served as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director of School of Lifelong Education and Chairman of several strategic university committees.

Beyond the university, he has served the National Universities Commission, NUC, as Resource Person and Accreditation Team Member, and the National Defence College, Abuja, as Sabbatical Fellow, Guest Lecturer and Academic Resource Person.

The DOPF Annual Conference and Lecture Series is a major platform for public discourse in Delta State and Nigeria, attracting government officials, policymakers, legislators, academics, media professionals, civil society groups and security experts.

Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected to attend the 2026 edition as Special Guest of Honour.
