The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that an ATR-42 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.

The aircraft reportedly crashed in the Igbokoda area, with details of the incident initially unclear as residents searched for the exact location of the crash.

A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying residents had yet to determine the precise location of the aircraft.

“Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details,” he said.
