Adeda’s Death: ‘If You Commit, You Go For It’ — Oborevwori Warns, Says Nobody Above Law
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has declared that no one will be shielded from prosecution over the death of Deputy Director Unity Adeda, warning that anyone who commits crime will face the law.
Oborevwori stated this on Wednesday when the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel Erale, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba, amid ongoing investigation into Adeda’s death.
Adeda, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Secondary Education, died on September 25, 2026, after an incident at the office of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, now under investigation by police.
The governor said security remained a central pillar of his MORE Agenda, stressing that peace and safety were essential for development, investment and wellbeing of citizens.
He said his administration had adopted a firm approach to crime fighting, irrespective of status or political affiliation.
“If you are my brother, if you are my friend, if you commit, you go for it. Nobody is above the law,” Oborevwori said.
He urged the new CP to sustain intelligence-led policing with stronger surveillance of communities, highways and waterways, particularly in riverine areas.
Oborevwori called for deeper collaboration between police, other security agencies, traditional rulers, youth leaders and vigilante groups to strengthen community policing and intelligence gathering.
He also warned against proliferation of firearms, particularly rifles in civilian hands, and charged security agencies to recover illegal arms.
The governor said the state government would continue to support security agencies through the Delta State Security Trust Fund with vehicles and logistics.
Earlier, CP Erale assured the governor of his commitment to maintaining peace, saying he would be guided by professionalism and discipline and would rejig the existing security architecture to make Delta safer.
