Delta Police have arrested one suspect, Lucky Adoh, and launched a manhunt for two others over the death of Deputy Director Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda in Asaba.

The Delta State Police Command says one suspect is in custody in connection with the incident at the office of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, in Asaba.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Thursday, September 25, 2026.

The Command identified the arrested suspect as Lucky Adoh, while a manhunt has been launched for two other fleeing suspects identified as Enos Attah and Oputa Okestine, alleged to be aides to the commissioner.

According to the statement, the Command became aware of reports surrounding Adeda’s death and allegations that he was physically assaulted by aides to the Commissioner.

“The Command, upon receipt of the complaints, immediately swung into action and arrested one of the suspects, Lucky Adoh, while serious manhunt for other fleeing suspects is ongoing,” Edafe stated.

Edafe said the investigation will examine all available evidence, including video footages, eyewitness accounts, medical records and actions of all persons connected to the incident.

The CP assured the family of the deceased and members of the public that no one found culpable will be shielded irrespective of status or position.

“The CP assures the family of the deceased, concerned citizens and members of the public that the command will neither shield nor spare anyone found culpable, irrespective of status or position. Relevant updates on the matter will be provided as it progresses,” the statement read.

CP Erale also extended condolences to the family of Adeda and assured that justice will be pursued diligently and without fear or favour.

Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Secondary Education, died after an alleged altercation at the Prof. Chike Edozie Secretariat, Asaba, which had sparked tension in the ministry.
