2027 Election: Omo-Agege Seeks Divine Protection Over Alleged Life Threats
…Backs Peter Obi and Iyovwaye
Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Delta Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has appealed to clergymen to pray for his safety following alleged threats to his life ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Agege made the call on Saturday during a strategic meeting with the Concerned Pastors for Good Governance (CPGG) at the Wetland Hotel in Ughelli.
He urged the clerics to pray for his candidacy, Delta Central, and Nigeria. He also admonished Nigerians to pray that God raises leaders possessing genuine compassion for the poor.
“I ask that you pray specially for my safety and protection through this campaign season, given the threats to my life by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” Omo-Agege stated.
“Pray that God would keep watch over me, my family, and my team, and shield us from every danger along the way.”
Lamenting the poor state of the nation’s economy, the lawmaker noted that families are stretched thin by the soaring cost of living and rising insecurity.
He charged the clergymen to preach unity, civic responsibility, and conscience voting across the eight local government areas of Delta Central.
Omo-Agege, who recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), urged electorate blocks to vote out the APC-led administration.
He strongly endorsed the presidential bid of Peter Obi and the gubernatorial ambition of Deacon Chris Iyovwaye.
“At the national level, Peter Obi is asking Nigerians for the mandate to lead. I believe he carries the integrity and clarity of purpose our nation needs right now,” he said.
“Here at home, Chris Iyovwaye will bring the seriousness Delta State deserves to the office of the Governor.”
Reflecting on his first tenure in the Red Chamber, Omo-Agege reeled out his scorecard, highlighting the establishment laws for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) Effurun, the Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Kwale’s health university, and an oil park for Delta State.
He also credited his previous tenure with influencing the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Electoral Act, alongside executing massive solar, water, and road projects across the eight local government areas.
Promising a “covenant of accessible leadership,” Omo-Agege pledged to push for laws that defend families and create functional jobs to steer youth away from political thuggery.
