Tragedy in Ondo as 4 Amotekun Officers Killed in Deadly Ambush

on

Four officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have reportedly been killed in an ambush by suspected criminals in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

The attack occurred while the officers were leaving their operational base along the Ago-Oyinbo farming area, around Ala Daadaa, according to the Corps spokesperson, Jimoh Adeniken.

Adeniken said the officers were suddenly attacked by armed assailants, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

He said the attackers killed the officers despite the resistance put up by the security personnel, describing the deceased as officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Following the incident, reinforcements were immediately deployed to the area to track down the attackers and bring them to justice.

The Corps also intensified patrols, security operations and intelligence gathering in the affected communities to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

Adeniken said the Ondo State Government, the Corps Commander and the management of Amotekun commiserated with the families, colleagues and loved ones of the fallen officers, while commending their courage and sacrifice.

The families of the deceased also appreciated the state government and Amotekun leadership for their support and commitment to giving the slain officers befitting burials.

They, however, appealed to the government to consider relatives of the deceased for future recruitment into the Corps.

Adeniken assured that the incident would not deter Amotekun from carrying out its duties, stressing that the Corps would work with other security agencies to protect lives and property and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Corps urged residents, particularly those in farming communities around the affected area, to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in apprehending the attackers.
