A barber identified simply as Emeka has been arrested by the police in Umuahia, Abia State, over allegations that he kept customers’ hair alongside suspected ritual items in his residence.

The suspect was apprehended after a search of his one-room apartment allegedly uncovered a clay pot containing shaved human hair and other items believed to be associated with traditional rituals.

The discovery reportedly followed a complaint lodged by Emeka’s neighbour, Mr. Johnson Ikenga, who accused the barber of issuing threats against him. Police officers responded to the complaint and conducted a search of the suspect’s residence during the arrest.

According to reports, officers recovered the clay pot filled with human hair and other suspected fetish objects.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted that the pot belonged to him but was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for its contents or state how the hair was obtained.

Emeka was subsequently taken into custody by officers attached to the Central Police Station in Umuahia, where investigations are ongoing.
