JUST IN: Mother of ADC Presidential Candidate Rotimi Amaechi, is Dead

Mrs Mary Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, is dead.

She passed away at the age of 89.

Amaechi’s Media Office, announced her death in a statement on Thursday, saying the family matriarch died peacefully.

Describing her as a woman of unwavering faith and exceptional character, the family said the late Mary Amaechi dedicated her life to serving God, her community and her family.

According to the statement, she was widely respected as both a Christian leader and a community women’s leader, earning admiration for her commitment to peace, unity and compassion.

The family noted that she played a central role in fostering harmony among relatives and extending kindness to people within and beyond her community.

“She was a cherished matriarch who held her family together through love, peace and unity. Her unwavering Christian faith guided her life, and she remained devoted to serving both God and humanity,” the statement read.

Amaechi family appreciates condolence messages.

Meanwhile, the former Minister and his family have expressed gratitude to friends, supporters and well-wishers who have reached out with messages of sympathy since news of her death became public.

They described the overwhelming show of love and support as a source of comfort during the difficult period of mourning.

The family added that details of the burial and funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.

While thanking the public for their prayers and condolences, the family appealed for continued support as they prepare to give the late matriarch a final farewell.
