The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Mr. David Amapakaye Okumgba as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in Port Harcourt through a statement signed by the party’s Rivers State Chairman, Dr. Chukwudi Dimgba.

Dimgba described Okumgba, an indigene of Okrika Local Government Area, as an accomplished administrator, businessman and politician with extensive experience in public service and party administration.

He noted that Okumgba previously served as South-South Zonal Secretary and South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary of a political party. He also chaired the Appeal Committee for Senatorial Primaries in Edo State and had contested for a seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

‎According to the ADC chairman, the party’s decision to nominate Okumgba was informed by his political experience, organisational competence and deep understanding of Rivers State’s political landscape.

He said the qualities complement those of the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson, adding that the ticket is well-positioned to provide credible leadership for the state.
