‎Police Reject ₦500m Bribe, Bust ₦7.8bn Drug Ring in Lagos ‎

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against illicit drug trafficking with the arrest of a 41-year-old suspected drug kingpin, Eke Henry Ifeanyi, during a raid in Lagos.


‎The operation, carried out by the Special Protection Unit (SPU) with divisional detectives, followed months of intelligence-led surveillance coordinated from Zone 2 Headquarters.

‎This was contained in a statement issued by  Olohundare Jimoh the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF)



‎Police stormed an apartment in Mende, Maryland, where the drugs were reportedly stored.

‎The statement said,the suspect was arrested on May 19 after sustained monitoring, with support from IGP Olatunji Disu and coordinated police units.

‎According to the statement, the suspect attempted to frustrate the operation with a ₦500m bribe.

‎“The suspect offered ₦500 million to the SPU commander in an attempt to make the team stand down and allow him to contact his associates to move the consignment elsewhere. The offer was rejected immediately and properly documented for further investigation.” he stated

‎”This success reflected improved intelligence-driven policing and professionalism, noting that rapid containment prevented interference with evidence.” limoh Said

‎However, the Police confirmed that exhibits have been secured for prosecution while investigations continue to track other suspects in the network.
