Police Arrest 2 Female Among 11 Suspected Cultists in Delta, Recover 3 Rifles

…40 rounds of live cartridges

Two female were among eleven suspects arrested over cult-related activities in Delta State.

The arrest came with recovery of firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons during separate intelligence-led operations in the state.

The suspects were apprehended followed a raid on a suspected cultist hideout at Eagle Square along Okpanam Road, Asaba, the state capital.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Sunday, said that the area raided during the operation was suspected to be a hideout used for cult-related activities.

He said operation which was carried out by operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team, acting on a distress call, on May 14, at about 11: 09hrs led to the arrest of seven male suspects and two female suspects.

According to him, items recovered from the suspects included, Beretta pistol, one battle axe, and one cutlass.

He said the suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the Command Anti-Cult Unit for further investigation.

In a separate operation, Edafe disclosed that on 14 May 2026 at about 09:00hrs, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol Team, during routine stop-and-search duty along the Ughelli/Patani Road, intercepted a Lexus Jeep with registration number KWL 139 CY driven by one Felix Ike.

He said that a thorough search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of one English-made pump action gun and forty rounds of live cartridges. The suspect is in custody while investigation is ongoing.

Similarly, on 15 May 2026 at about 1230hrs, operatives acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command anti-cult unit arrested one Christopher Ogidigbo, aged 28 years, of Ogharaefe Town in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, identified as a suspected kingpin of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity (SVC).

One locally made revolver pistol was recovered from the suspect during the operation, he said adding that investigation is ongoing to ascertain his possible involvement in other criminal activities.

In his comment, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and proactive response, reiterating the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities across the State.
