Delta: Police Recover AK-47 Rifle, Double Magazine from Two Arrested Suspected Cultists
The Delta State Police Command, through the efforts of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, has recovered one AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine, alongside other incriminating items from two arrested suspected cultists operating within Oghara and its.
The police recorded the breakthrough its sustained operations aimed at dismantling armed criminal networks operating within Oghara and its environs.
The arrest follows the earlier recovery made on 24th November 2025, during which confessed cultists were apprehended and a pump-action gun with other incriminating exhibits were recovered.
Confirming this in a statement on Thursday, State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe said that building on that momentum and acting on credible intelligence, CP-SAT had intensified surveillance and executed coordinated follow-up operations across key locations in Oghara.
He said that on 25th November 2025, the team successfully arrested two additional suspects linked to the criminal syndicate: Justice Ikutu’ m’, 38 years old, and Peter Okomeje’ m’, 55 years old.
The suspects were apprehended at separate hotspots within Oghara town, he said.
A subsequent search at the residence of one Peter Kome ‘m’ led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine, alongside other incriminating items strongly connected to the ongoing investigations into cult activities and armed robbery operations.
He said that all suspects are currently in custody, while operatives intensify efforts to identify and apprehend additional members of the gang.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the swift response and professionalism displayed by CP-SAT.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue supporting the Police with credible information that can aid in the ongoing fight against criminality in the state.
