Delta Police Raids Hotel, Arrest 10 Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recovers English Pistol

The Police Command in Delta State, has arrested ten suspected drug peddlers after a major raid on a hotel in Agbor, Ika South local government area of the state.


The suspects were rounded up by operatives of the Delta State Eagle Net Special Squad, led by the Commander, SP Danyaya Yunusa, in a joint operation with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS).

The operatives acting on credible intelligence, had stormed the hotel situated along the Asaba/Benin Expressway, Agbor, last week Saturday, September 13.

The raid led to the arrest of ten (10) adult suspects, including Markwuye Peter ‘m’ of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor, identified as the owner of the hotel.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this yesterday, in a statement, said that a substantial quantity of illicit drugs was recovered during the operation.

He disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody, while discreet investigations have commenced to unravel the full extent of their criminal activities.

In the same vein, the police from Ogwashi-Uku Division, on Wednesday September 17, arrested two suspects for being in possession of an English pistol loaded with two (2) rounds of live ammunition.

The Police image maker, in a statement said that in a separate operation on 17th September, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okomoyon, led a joint patrol comprising officers of the division and local vigilantes.

During the operation, the team intercepted three young men riding on a motorcycle.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe (25yrs), Victor Chibuzor ‘m’ (25yrs), and Zakaria Joro (25yrs), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku, were subjected to a search, which led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two (2) rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for having the firearm. Consequently, both the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation, he added.

Edafe reiterated that the State Police Command has intensified its war against crime, sending a strong message to criminal elements operating within the state.

According to him, in the two separate sting operations carried out by the police within the week, the Command dismantled a suspected drug syndicate in Agbor and intercepted armed robbery suspects in Ogwashi-Uku, recovering illicit drugs, a firearm, and live ammunition.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, in his remarks, reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Command to ensuring the safety and security of all Deltans.

He noted that these breakthroughs underscore the Command’s renewed operational drive, backed by intelligence, community collaboration, and swift response mechanisms aimed at restoring peace and safety across Delta State.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the Command with credible information, assuring them of swift response.
