Chairman of the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has expressed commitments to ensure a healthy environment in the local government council.

Warri who stated this on Tuesday, said that his administration is ensuring a conducive healthy living for all even as he pledged a healthier healthcare sector in the local government with proactive measures.

He made the pledge while playing host to the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) team who paid him the second round visit at his office in Oleh, headquarters of the council.

He assured the team of health officials of the council’s full support, stating that a healthier environment is conducive to healthy living.

“It’s better to live in a clean environment instead of waiting to be infected and seeking medical treatments. We will strive to optimise the health and well-being of our people; health, as the adage goes, is wealth. Consequently, we aim to foster a healthier Isoko South local government area.” Warri added.

Addressing the council chairman, Abeh Oromena Evans, who serves as the World Health Organisation (WHO) local government area facilitator team leader, commended the council’s efforts in ensuring the welfare of Isoko South citizens.

NIPDs are targeted initiatives designed to enhance routine immunisation efforts, particularly against polio, nationwide. It aims to immunise children under five against polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

These campaigns will entail house-to-house visits, outreach sites, and fixed vaccination posts to ensure widespread access to vaccines across the Isoko South local government area.

To protect children from the debilitating effects of poliovirus, the NIPDS second round campaign is scheduled to commence prior to the end of June, in collaboration with the health department in the Isoko South local government council and partners to commemorate the Integrated 2025 NIPDs.
