Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of elder statesman and retired military officer, General Paul Ufuoma Omu, describing his death as a significant loss to both Delta State and the nation.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Wednesday, Governor Oborevwori praised the late General Omu as a patriotic Nigerian, a distinguished military officer, and a respected community leader who served with honour and integrity.

The Governor extended his heart- felt condolences to General Omu’s immediate family, the Igbide Kingdom, and the Isoko nation, noting that his contributions to national unity, particularly during his tenure as Military Governor of the defunct South-Eastern State and through various national assignments remained etched in Nigeria’s history.

“General Paul Omu was a man of impeccable character, discipline, and wisdom. His leadership and mentorship positively impacted many lives within and beyond Delta State,” the Governor said.

He added, “On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, I commiserate with his beloved wife, Senator Stella Omu, the Omu family of Igbide Kingdom, and the Isoko nation.

“While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life dedicated to the service of God, country, and humanity.”

Governor Oborevwori urged the Omu family, the people of Igbide Kingdom in Isoko South Local Government Area, and all Deltans to find comfort in the enduring legacy of service and sacrifice left behind by the late General.
