Political Tensions High In Bauchi As Deputy Governor Allegedly Slaps Foreign Minister At Wedding Party

In a stunning display of political discord, Bauchi’s Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau reportedly slapped Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Maitama Tuggar during a high-profile wedding ceremony over the weekend.

The altercation, which took place at the turbaning of former Governor MA Abubakar, was ignited by comments from Tuggar deemed disrespectful towards the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Eyewitnesses described a charged atmosphere, quickly escalating into chaos as Tuggar, under fire for previous allegations of spreading misinformation about the PDP-led administration, clashed verbally with Jatau. This confrontation has intensified local criticism against Tuggar, with many constituents branding his remarks as “divisive” and accusing him of merely seeking attention rather than contributing to Bauchi’s development.

“It was a shocking moment,” recounted one anonymous witness. “The Deputy Governor was furious, and the tension was palpable. If Vice President Kashim Shettima hadn’t intervened, this could have spiraled into a more serious incident.”

According to report in 247Ureport, “As the political arena grows increasingly volatile, the incident raises concerns about the already strained relations between state and federal leaders. With no official statements released from either the Bauchi State Government or the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the implications of the slap reverberate through political circles, with analysts warning that this clash could exacerbate the existing rift between the two factions.

Political pundits urge for a call to decorum among leaders in these turbulent times, reminding all stakeholders that dignity should prevail, especially as the political temperature continues to rise.
