Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been honoured with the prestigious Vanguard Newspaper’s Governor of the year 2024 award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to good governance, impactful leadership, and transformative initiatives across the state.

The award, presented at the 13th Annual Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards ceremony in Lagos, celebrates public officials who have demonstrated excellence in public service, infrastructural development, economic transformation, and people-centered leadership.

Governor Oborevwori earned the accolade for his commitment to transparency, inclusive governance, and the rapid execution of strategic developmental projects under his “MORE” agenda – an acronym for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Receiving the award, Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the people of Delta State for their continued support and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering more dividends of democracy.

He said the recognition was not just about him, but about the resilient and hardworking people of Delta State, adding that it was a call to do more, serve better, and continue building a state Deltans can all be proud of.

Vanguard’s editorial board described Oborevwori’s leadership as “purpose-driven and people-focused,” highlighting achievements in road construction, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and security initiatives across the state.

Numerous Deltans and political stakeholders have taken to national dailies and social media platforms to congratulate Governor Oborevwori, saying that the award was a timely acknowledgment of the Governor’s steady leadership amid Nigeria’s challenging political and economic climate.
