Isoko North Council Chairman, Ogorugba Presents N15.26 Billion 2025 Budget

Chairman of Isoko North Local Government of Delta state, Godwin Ogorugba, has presented a budget of N15.26 billion for 2025 fiscal year to the legislative arm.

Presenting the budget christened “BUDGET OF HOPE” Thursday, Ogorugba emphasized that the budget is designed to build on the progress achieved within the first six months of his administration, assuring that priority would be given to completing ongoing projects while also initiating new, impactful projects that would benefit the people.

“My administration has made significant strides in delivering developmental projects across the local government. Local government revenue does not belong exclusively to politicians or civil servants but must positively use to impact all residents, including men, women, the elderly, the youth, and every citizen of Isoko North. We aim to achieve this by investing in developmental, social, and economic projects that will improve the quality of life of our people.”

The budget which comprises of a total recurrent expenditure of N9,449,664,807.64 (61.95%) and a total capital expenditure of
N5,804,500,000.00 (38.05%), according to the chairman, the revenue projection for the 2025 fiscal year is based on statutory allocations, value-added tax (VAT), internally generated revenue (IGR), and other capital receipts.

Ogorugba was accompanied by key officials of the council to include, Delta State Chairman of the Hospital Management Board, Paul Oweh; Vice Chairman of the Council, Evelyn Aluta; Secretary to the Local Government, Vote Umukoro, Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Irene Onwodi; Council Treasurer, Fejiro Elo Ogbogbo; supervisors, and other aides.

Meanwhile, the state local government Auditor-General, Ukpaka Ikenna has commended the Isoko North council chairman, Godwin Ogorugba over what he described as “impressive performance in office”

The Auditor-General, who gave the commendation Thursday during an official to the council to assess the execution of projects in Isoko North for the year 2024, urged the chairman to sustain the momentum.

Expressing his satisfaction, Ikenne noted that despite being in office for just seven months, Ogorugba has demonstrated commendable leadership and development strides, pointing out that contrary to misinformation from outsiders, his visit confirmed that the chairman is making a significant impact.

“I must say we are truly impressed with the work going on here in Isoko North, Mr. Chairman. This clearly shows that you are delivering on your mandate, and we encourage you to maintain the momentum. Also, ensure peace is sustained because development thrives in a peaceful environment.”

In his remark, the council chairman, Godwin Ogorugba expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oreinted governance, emphasizing that the MORE agenda of governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is being implemented and strengthened in Isoko North.

“Just yesterday, we fully paid for the enrollment of all primary six pupils in public primary schools across Isoko North. This is a government that prioritizes the people.”

Ogorugba however stressed the importance of integrity in leadership, adding that his administration is aimed at leaving a lasting legacy.

Ogorugba also highlighted key programs he plans to implement, including public sensitization and preventive measures to curb the spread of cholera in Isoko North. He assured the Auditor-General that significant transformations would be seen before his one year anniversary in office.
