Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri has reassured members of the Association of Persons Living With Disabilities of government support even as he commended them for believing in themselves against all odds.

Warri gave the commendation Tuesday during interactive session with persons living with disabilities in ommemoration of world disability day marked every December 3rd held at the Otobo hall, Oleh, headquarters of the council.

International Day of People Living With Disability is commemorated worldwide on December 3rd every year, with the primary goal of raising public awareness, encouraging understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities, and honouring their achievements and contributions.

The council boss praised individuals with disabilities in the local government area for recognising ability amidst challenges, affirming that his administration will offer requisite support to enable the attainment of their aspirations and guarantee involvement in their subsequent celebrations.

“I want to assure you that the government is fully committed to supporting you through all circumstances. We are willing to provide assistance in every possible way. We will collectively celebrate this Christmas together. Our next celebration of International Day with persons living with disabilities will be a greater celebration. In life, let’s always give thanks to the Lord.”

The Isoko South number one citizen while thankng them for their unrelenting support to the government, encouraged them to continue in that direction with a promise of his administration to always carry them along in the scheme of things and made a personal donation to them in his personal capacity as Friday Ovoke Warri, assuring them of government continued support through his office.

In his speech, chairman of the association, Isoko South branch, Sammy Emmanuel, appreciated the council chairman for his show of love and compassion for the disabled in the local government, describing their meeting with the chairman as unprecedented in the history of the local government, as it is the first time they are marking the world international day of persons with disabilities with an incumbent local government chairman in their midst.

He asked for more opportunities, explaining that across the 25 local governments, not all have had the chance to meet with their local government chairman on a day such as this, adding that “You made it happen in a colourful way; despite the prompt invitation, you still take it as a challenge to be here. Chairman sir, when there is a good leader like you, heaven and earth rejoice, and we are happy as never before. Sir, continue; never give up,” he added.
