Tuokpe, Reno Omokri’s Ex-Wife’s Post Sparks Debate On Domestic Abuse And Toxic Relationships

Tuokpe, the former wife of Reno Omokri, who was the Special Assistant on New Media to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, has publicly accused him of domestic abuse during their marriage.

In a revealing Instagram post, Tuokpe shared her distressing experiences and emphasized the need for women to stand up against any form of violence.

She detailed several disturbing incidents, including a particularly shocking moment when she discovered blood on her pillow after allegedly suffering a ruptured eardrum caused by Omokri. Tuokpe also described other instances of violence that led her to seek help from law enforcement.

According to Tuokpe, Omokri sought a submissive partner who would conform to his controlling behavior, which conflicted with her independent upbringing and values.

In her post, Tuokpe wrote: “No woman should ever tolerate abuse in a marriage, regardless of how infrequent it might be. We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children. But the truth is, your children deserve better.

“After the first instance of violence, which left me with a swollen jaw and weeks of pain, I made excuses, thinking I must have provoked the anger. I even had to endure seeing my daughter witness another slap. And there was the morning I woke up to find blood on my pillow from a ruptured eardrum you caused. The final straw was when you assaulted me again, leading me to involve the police.

“Now you claim to be happily married to a woman who doesn’t ‘quarrel.’ Good luck to her, because you always wanted someone you could control and intimidate. I was never meant to be that person; I wasn’t raised to be timid.”

The comments on her post are filled with responses. Many people have shown her support and encouragement. However, some find it hard to believe because they see Reno as a perfect person. Others think she might just be trying to get attention.
