UPDATED: It’s Official!!! ‘Police, Aide Confirm Ex-Delta Commissioner, Joan Onyemaechi’s Safe Release On Friday Night’
Former Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, also known as Ada Anioma, has been released and is now back home safely, according to confirmation from the police and her aide on Friday night.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that Onyemaechi, formerly known as Mrakpor, has been released by her kidnappers after being held captive for several days.
Onyemaechi, a former House of Representatives member, was abducted on July 30th from her church premises in Asaba, resulting in the death of two persons, including a policeman.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of one billion naira, but it’s unclear if any payment was made before her release.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed her release on Friday night, but provided no further details.
In a terse message sent via Whatsapp on Saturday, the police image maker, said; “Police PRO SP Bright Edafe has just officially confirmed Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada-Anioma) has been released by her abductors …details comin. This is confirmed pls”, he wrote.
Also, Onwordi Ngozi Favour, an aide of the victim, announced her release on Facebook, expressing gratitude to God for answering their prayers.
He wrote: “Praise God! Our prayers have been answered, and we’re thankful for everyone’s support. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, also known as Ada Anioma, is finally home safe and sound. We give thanks to Jesus for her safe return!”
