Delta Varsity VC Attributes Increased Institution’s Admission Seekers To Effective DOPF’s Reportage

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeka, has commended the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) for its effective coverage of the institution’s activities, saying it has helped to popularize the university and make it a preferred choice for admission seekers.

“I am impressed with the wide publicity you are giving our activities. It has helped to increase the number of applicants seeking admission to our university from about one thousand to over eleven thousand,” Prof. Chiemeka said while receiving a DOPF delegation led by its Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli.

While saying that the admission quota of the University was dependent on the limit set by JAMB, the VC revealed that the number of applicants seeking admission to the University had increased from about one thousand to over eleven thousand, while all the 74 programmes of the institution had been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in the past three years.

She added that the institution’s medical courses were currently undergoing accreditation, with bright prospects of being fully accredited by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, pointing out that the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, had approved the use of the Trauma Centre, Agbor, for the teaching of medical programmes to boost the quality of products of the College of Medical Sciences.

The professor of Computer Science, pledged the university’s readiness to partner with DOPF to take the institution to greater heights, saying, “We are willing to work with you to achieve our goals.”

In his remarks, Mr. Enebeli congratulated Prof. Chiemeka on her appointment and lauded her achievements, saying, “We are impressed with your monumental achievements within three years of your administration. We solicit a more robust partnership with UNIDEL through the publication of stories on the activities of the university community.”

The visit featured the presentation of souvenirs to the DOPF delegation which was done by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeka and the Director of Communication of the University of Delta, Mr Edward Ogwude.
