Governor Sheriff Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured Deltans that his administration is committed to ensuring the security of lives and property in the state, following recent spate of kidnapping and armed robbery cases.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the Governor’s assurance comes on the heels of the abduction of a former commissioner and House of Representatives member, Joan Mrakpor, and other high-profile individuals in the state.

He spoke on Wednesday when he received on courtesy visit, the State Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), led by the State Chairman, Bishop Kingsley Enakhireri at Government House, Asaba.

Despite these worrisome incidents, Governor Oborevwori maintained that the state remains peaceful, citing the collective efforts of stakeholders, including prayers from religious leaders, in maintaining law and order.

He thanked Deltans for their support and called for more prayers to help the administration address the security challenges.

Specifically, the Governor commended the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and other religious leaders for their contributions to maintaining peace in the state during the ongoing protests. He criticized opposition elements for trying to take credit for the peaceful disposition of protesters, stressing that it was a collective effort of all stakeholders.

He acknowledged the recent security challenges in some parts of the state but emphasized that the state remains peaceful.

The governor who stated that security of lives and property remained the primary purpose of Government, thanked Deltans for their support and called for more prayers to enable the administration resolve some of the seeming intractable challenges bedeviling the state.

Thanking the PFN for their support and prayers, Governor Oborevwori said that God has been faithful in answering all the prayers concerning the state and assured that he would continued to be Governor for all Deltans.

He said: “On the issue of security, we are doing our best. In section 14(2b) of the 1999 Constitution, it states that, ‘the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government’ and we are doing that. We want to assure Deltans that this is just a phase and it will come and go. Continue to pray for us while we will continue to serve the people.”, he said.
