Cameroonian, Others Nabbed For Several Incidents Of Kidnappings In Delta

One Abdulahi Mohammed, a 38yrs from Cameroon has been apprehended alongside his Nigerian accomplices over several incidents of Kidnappings in the Warri axis, Delta State.
Mohammed was held along Yakubu Ya’u, a 20-year-old suspect from Kaduna, and Musa Yakubu (25) from Kogi State, on May 12, 2024, after a combined effort by police operatives and the Force Intelligence Unit, Abuja.
It was gathered that Yakubu who resides in Kaduna, always comes to Oha and Ughwagba Communities in Okpe LGA, to kidnap unsuspecting residents for ransom.
His arrest led to apprehension of two other of his gang members, Musa Yakubu (25) from Kogi State and Abdulahi Mohammed (38) from Cameroon, were arrested on May 12, 2024.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this, the suspects are allegedly responsible for several kidnapping incidents in Orerokpe, Sapele, Warri, and environs.
He said that victims had identified the suspects, and investigations are ongoing.
Edafe said that following intelligence, the DPO Orerokpe, CSP Paul Oboware, mobilized and led his patrol teams to his hideout in Warri, and after a painstaking search of the entire area, the said Yakubu Ya’u was arrested.
Preliminary investigation and interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of two other key gang members.
The suspects are allegedly responsible for several kidnapping incidents in Orerokpe, Sapele, Warri, and environs.
Edafe said that the suspected kidnappers led the detectives of the Orerokpe Division to Ughwagba Community in Okpe LGA, where Two Automatic Pump Action Guns, One Live Cartridge, and one knife hidden and buried in the bush were recovered.
The police, in addition made two separate arrests in Ozoro and Obiaruku divisions, resulting in the recovery of a locally made revolver gun, two live cartridges, and a locally made double barrel pistol
According to him, following intelligence, police operatives arrested one Michael Udo (20) and during investigation, a search warrant was executed in his premises where a Locally Made Revolver Gun and Two live Cartridges were recovered in his house.
Similarly, one suspect identified as Chinedu Okolo (31) of Ezhionum Community, was arrested on the 14th May following a report from a distress caller, that he was being bullied and forced into a cult initiation.
One Locally Made Double Barrel Pistol and the handset forcefully taken from the victim were recovered from the suspect.
Efforts are in progress to apprehend other fleeing suspects”, Edafe added.
