Omo-Agege Concedes Delta Governorship Election, Extends Congratulations To Oborevwori
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the March 18, 2023 Delta State Governorship Election, has accepted the decision of the Supreme Court upholding the victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that in a statement he personally signed, Omo-Agege expressed his acceptance of the apex court’s verdict, acknowledging that all citizens are obligated to accept and abide by its decisions, even if they may not align with their personal expectations of justice.
In his message titled “DELTANS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT AND PRAYERS”, Omo-Agege referred to Governor Oborevwori as his “dear brother” and extended his congratulations, despite the challenging political battle they had engaged in to improve governance in Delta State.
Omo-Agege emphasized that the struggle for the governorship was driven by the collective interest and welfare of the people, rather than personal ambitions.
He wished Governor Oborevwori well, expressing his hope that the good Lord would guide and bless him with health, strength, and wisdom to govern the state effectively.
His words: “Now, to my dear brother, His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, accept my congratulations for your victory today. It has been a long-drawn out struggle to offer our people the best in the governance of our State.
“It is about the collective interest and good of our people, not our personal interest. Having now received the Supreme Court’s seal of approval, I must wish you well as a democrat. May the good Lord guide and abide with you and give you good health, strength and wisdom to govern our State well in Jesus’ name”.
Furthermore, Omo-Agege urged his supporters to accept the Supreme Court’s decision and work towards promoting peace throughout the state. He emphasized that the unity, peace, and overall welfare of Delta State are more significant and should take precedence over individual or group interests.
According to the statement, having responsibly and fully played our role in principled defence of our fervent belief in the truth, honour and justice of our case and cause as democrats, we must now yield all to posterity, even as we thank God Almighty who gave us the grace to stand in the first place.
He specifically expressed thanks to his wife and other family members for their huge sacrifices in his quest to offer innovative and caring leadership to the people of the state.
The statement also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leadership of the APC, led by His Excellency Alhaji (Dr.) Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Delta State Executive Committee of the APC under the leadership of Elder Omeni Sobotie for their unwavering support.
Omo-Agege thanked his campaign organization, led by Elder Godsday Orubebe as Director-General, legal team led by Mr. Robert Emukpoeruo, SAN, political, religious, community, business, professional, and youth leaders, as well as all party members and supporters for their contributions to the campaign. He concluded by expressing his appreciation to his running mate, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, for his faithfulness and loyalty throughout the race.
